The body collects stories, that is one of its purposes; to document the events of our life.
— M'kali-Hashiki

Whether you're completing a manuscript, developing a performance piece, finishing a visual art series, composing an album, choreographing a dance work, or bringing any other creative vision to life, these coaching sessions focus on 3 areas: Erotic Embodiment, Creating A Sanctuary Space, & Foundations.

Erotic Embodiment

My primary work is all about Erotic Embodiment. In this context that means accessing & harnessing your creative energy; tapping in to your body to understand the story you've been holding onto, and why it's so important for your own healing, and the healing of the folks who will experience your work.

For writers, this means connecting to the narratives your body holds. For visual artists, it's about trusting the images that emerge from your deepest knowing. For performers, dancers, and choreographers, it's embodying the full spectrum of your authentic expression through movement. For musicians, it's allowing rhythm and melody to flow through your body's wisdom.

Erotic Embodiment can significantly enhance your craft by deepening your connection to your creative energy and emotional expression. Helping you tap into raw, unfiltered emotions that add depth and passion to your work & giving you a richer palette of emotional colors to create with.

Being erotically embodied can be a radical act of resistance, especially for artists living in bodies marginalized by the State. In a world shaped by interlocking systems of oppression, we have often been silenced, misrepresented, or denied the fullness of our humanity. Erotic embodiment allows you to reclaim your body, desires, and creative vision from the forces that seek to control and dehumanize you, an act of defiance against cultural landscapes that commodify and distort marginalized identities. By creating from a place of deep sensual connection, we can break through imposed limitations, expressing our full selves in ways that are authentic, unapologetically raw, and powerful.

Creating Your Sanctuary Space

Creating a "sanctuary space" for your creative process is essential for nurturing creativity and fostering deeper connections with your work. A sanctuary space is more than just a physical environment; it's a mental and emotional zone where you feel safe, grounded, and free from external pressures. In a world filled with distractions, demands, and often overwhelming expectations, this space becomes a refuge where your thoughts, emotions, and creative impulses can flow freely. It allows you to slow down, tune into your inner voice, and engage with your creative work in a meaningful and uninterrupted way. This sense of peace and protection is crucial for cultivating vulnerability, a necessary ingredient in powerful artistic expression. Ultimately, having a sanctuary space honors the creative process and serves as a reminder that your art deserves attention, care, and respect.

Foundations

There is a whole process to getting the vision in your mind into the hands/eyes/ears of your audience: developing the concept, creating the work, & finally sharing it with the world. For writers, this includes outlining, writing, and submitting. For visual artists, it might be conceptualizing, creating, and exhibiting. For performers and dancers, developing material, rehearsing, and booking venues. For musicians, it could be composing, recording, and securing performance opportunities. I'll support you through each stage of your creative process, along with navigating Imposter Syndrome, Creative Blocks, Time Management, Managing Feedback, & other challenges vital to bringing your vision to life.

my qualifications

I have been writing stories since I was a pre-teen. My first “published” work was a short horror story in the school newpaper. In my work in the non-profit political world I wrote organizing manuals and development documents, and was always the informal editor for many of the communications with stakeholders. I was also the Interim Arts Editor for a major national feminist journal. My published works are in anthologies, and feminist periodicals. I am also the co-editrix of an upcoming anthology focused on the experiences of peri/menopausal QTIBIPOC.

I have helped several other artists get beyond their creative blocks in individual coaching.

I was trained in Sanctuary Coaching by the Unicorn Author’s club, an organization started by Minal Hajratwala during the lockdown to offer BIPOC writers and allies who mean it a safe & supportive space to engage in the process.
